Judy Bates holds a B.A. in Studio Art from Hollins University and has studied Renaissance Painting Techniques at the Angel Academy in Florence, Italy. Her award winning paintings have appeared on the covers of American Artist magazine and The Best of Watercolor, Vol. 3, by Rockport Publishers. An article on her work, “Capturing Something Beautiful”, appeared in the May, 1993, issue of American Artist

Judy is an artist member and former Historian of the Virginia Watercolor Society. Her award-winning paintings are in the collections of Hollins University, Virginia Western Community College, SAS Institute (Cary, North Carolina), and Wachovia (Winston-Salem, North Carolina), as well as many other corporate and private collections around the country. She is represented by galleries in Virginia and North Carolina.
